The Welding 101 welding class is designed for the person who would like to get started immediately with practical welding at home or on a homestead.
The instruction will be primarily hands-on: Setting up and using a flux core welder.
This 3-hour class will cover:
- Overview of welding concepts & Safety Issues
- Types of metal that weld or do not weld
- Types of welders and welding
- How to set up a wire-feed, flux-core welder (electric)
- Welding techniques
o Welding a lap joint
o Welding a corner joint
o Welding project: we will all participate welding a class project
Class Information:
This class will be held at our outdoor campus, under the pole barn.
Class Times: 1 – 4 pm
Tuition is $40.
**For students enrolling in the Urban Readiness Immersion Program, this class counts as 0.5 credits and is eligible for a tuition discount when 10 or more class credits are registered for. Please check out the Urban Readiness Program on our Immersion Studies page for discount information.
