Learn medicine making skills on-site with the guidance of a seasoned apothecarist to walk you through techniques for making both internal and external herbal medicine products that you will go home with!
The focus will be on teaching medicine making methods, step-by-step, that can be done at home after you complete the intensive!
During this two-day intensive (16 contact hours), students will learn:
- Working with apothecary equipment like industrial grinders, percolation tincture funnels, electric infusers and more
- When to use maceration vs. percolation when tincturing – and the steps in person!
- Why refinement techniques matter when making formulations – how to make your medicine even better!
- Learn by making: infusions vs. decoctions and then on to alcohol & glycerine & honey!
Students will make and go home with:
- A demulcent throat soothing cold infusion
- A tea tasting bar with your own customized tea blend
- Step-by-step process of making a glycerite for gut health
- Making concentrated honey extractions
- The start-to-finish process of a basic multifractional extraction for an herb
- Completing a percolation tincturing of a pain-relieving liniment
- An herbal first aid poultice
- A hydrotherapy treatment used for stress management & pain relief
This 2-day intensive will be held on-site at our Taos Mtn. Campus location July 19-20th. Class will run 9 to 5 on both days and students will go home with roughly 8-9 finished products at the end of the course, recipes and lots of hands-on training in apothecary techniques!
