Current and prospective students are encouraged to attend the session with questions or just to listen in.
What can I do with the things I learn in the austere program?
Austere – or remote medicine – works with the question, ‘what would you do if there was NO higher care?’. This could be a natural disaster, a period of social unrest where higher care is not available at all, or even working outside the US in a humanitarian aid capacity. We frequently have healthcare providers who want to add to their skills to help them respond more effectively if they don’t have the resources available in higher care, but also families who need to know what to do for their loved ones if they simply can’t get to higher care. This program picks up where most WFR certifications end – teaching students life-saving and critical thinking skills. Herbal medicine plays an invaluable role in this too.
Members of our Austere Medicine program will be present during the August open office hours session to answer questions about how the program works, what to expect and what skills students will learn. Attend this live session and get a pdf of ‘Essential Herbs for The field’ that is available only during the live session.
