Before beginning the Doula Certification Program, students must download and fill out our program application form. This form will be emailed out, and students must submit 2 references and a photo identification with their application.
Herbal Medics University (HMU) offers a comprehensive Doula Certification Program that combines a traditional doula education with an emphasis on herbal training and emergency birth worker skills. Students cover an extensive course curriculum of prenatal, birth and postpartum Doula skills. This program also includes a full herbal curriculum with a focus on herbs during the childbearing year and unique preparation for service as an Emergency Birth Worker.
DOULA CERTIFICATION COURSE
The primary subjects covered include:
Week 1 Introduction to Doula Work
Week 2 A & P for Doulas
Week 3 Antepartum Doula Work
Week 4 Labor and Birth
Week 5 Birth Doula Work
Week 6 Support in the Hospital Setting
Week 7 Unusual Birth or Unplanned Outcomes
Week 8 Postpartum Doula Work
Week 9 Newborn Care beyond Diapers and Breastfeeding
Week 10 Business of Being a Doula and Review
Mentoring with Doula Program Director – minimum 4 hours of one-on-one mentoring via phone/Skype/in person over the course of the year that it typically takes to complete the program.
Student will have full access to the online classroom throughout the course where recorded lectures, documents, videos and other class resources are posted throughout the course of the class. All material is available for download 30 days past the last class.

Dates: Week 1 classroom access begins 09/27/19. First live class is 10/2/18.
New classroom material is available each Thursday morning. Question and Answer Live Chat will follow on Wednesday evenings, 7 pm Central time.
Mid-term break after Week 5 – No content released on 10/31 and no live class on 11/6. Content resumes on 11/7, live class resumes 11/13.
There is a 4-week grace period after the last class week, to allow ample time for downloading content and finishing the course test.
Location: This is an online course, and is interactive.
