Is your gun just for show?

The firearm is sometimes called the “great equalizer”. Truth is, without proper training, you are not as equal as you might think. Training is the difference. Not just a “check the block” course, but real training for life and death circumstances. Training that imparts skills tested and proven by military and law enforcement.

This two-day training is an opportunity to get hands-on training using firearms in a safe and controlled environment with skilled NRA Instructor, Dennis Fivecoat.

Defensive Pistol Training: Saturday, September 6, 2014.

The pistol is the most common firearm for self-defense.  Its compact size allows for constant and concealed carry – to be ready at any moment.  Unlike a rifle or shotgun, you can get licensed to carry a pistol for unexpected, life or death situations.  However, most people do not realistically train for a self-defense encounter.

The first half of the course will meet the objectives for a NRA course, and a NRA book and certificate will be issued.  In the afternoon, we will add to the curriculum with self-defense pistol skills you can use and practice immediately.

Skills include:

• pistol & holster features

• ammunition choices

• drawing from a holster

• stress response drills

• combat speed and marksmanship

• magazine exchanges

• responding to a stressful deadly force encounter.

Defensive Rifle Training: Sunday, September 7, 2014.

A pistol is carried because you can always have it with you.  Almost any rifle will outclass almost any pistol.  This course is designed to show the strengths and weaknesses of the Stoner (AR15, M16, M4) system and the Kalashnikov (AK47, AK74) system.  Students are expected to use one of these, or similar systems (magazine feed, semiautomatic).

The first half of the class will meet the objectives for a NRA course, and a NRA book and certificate will be issued.  In the afternoon, we will add to the curriculum with self-defense rifle skills you can use and practice immediately.

Skills include:

• firearm manipulation and magazine exchanges

• ammunition choices

• combat speed and marksmanship

• responding to a stressful deadly force encounter.

We will briefly discuss hunting applications for versatility, but self-defense is the main goal of this class.  If you own a rifle for self-defense, this is the course you need to succeed.  Don’t hope you are ready – get the skills you need!
