This is an online course. You can participate from anywhere you have an internet connection.

Learn how to set up your own apothecary business. Whether it is a brick-and-mortar business, an online store, a pop-up venture or a farmer’s market stall – learn what you need to know to make exciting and unique herbal medicines. Build your apothecary from the ground up and create your own signature products! September 4th – November 20th, 2022.

This course begins in September, and covers a wide range of topics that include:

intermediate tincturing processes — refining and perfecting taste
advanced medicinal formulary work
working with fermentation and herbs
apothecary food safety for internal preparations
how to set up an herbal LLC business
insurance for business owners
medicine making in your community
therapeutic tonics, honeys, vinegars and more
Wildcrafting documentation and local sourcing
How to set up an apothecary
flavor and syrups and shrubs
labeling, trademark and product plagiarism
do your first multi-fractional herbal extract!
12 classes packed full of hands-on medicine making or instruction

Classes are interactive, and students work with an herbal packet that is shipped to them. All Sunday night classes are live, but are recorded for students who may need to miss a class. It is recommended to have a basic foundation skill level with herbalism for this course.

COURSE INFORMATION

Live classes are Sunday evenings, 7 to 9 pm central time. The first class is scheduled for September 3rd.

All classes are recorded and archived with class materials on the library classroom.

Dates: This is a 12 week course beginning on September 3rd, 2023.

There will be a midterm exam break scheduled for the week of 10/15 – there will be no class that week.

Registration closes on September 17th, 2023.

There is a 4-week grace period after the last class week, to allow ample time for downloading content and finishing the course test. Access to the online classroom will close January 8th, 2024.

International Shipping: There are additional costs involved with shipping course materials outside of the US. If you are located outside of the US, please contact us upon registration so we can help you with shipping arrangements. We offer shipping within Canada and Mexico only. (APO or AE addresses are not eligible.) International students are responsible for the expense of shipping their own course materials.
