Emergency Birth Skills Course – 2023

Learn what to do in the situation of an emergency birth when higher care is not available. This two-day skills course will be taught at our Taos Mtn. Campus in Taos, NM July 29-30th. Students will learn in-person how to facilitate a safe and respectful birth, even in remote and post-disaster settings. **This course is not intended as a substitute for qualified medical care.

STEP 1: Complete online module before the on-site training and assessment in July.

STEP 2: Students completing Doula Certification must also complete an online doula module before the on-site training.

STEP 3: Attend the 2-day on-site training session for full completion of the Emergency Birth Course.

COURSE SCHEDULE & INFORMATION

Online Module Access Dates: Online pre-coursework opens June 26th, 2023. This is a 24-hour module that students will work on at their own pace and must complete before the on-site training in July.

Registration for this course will close on July 10th.

On-Site Training & Evaluation: July 29th – 30th, 2023. This is a 16-hour hands-on training course.

Location: Our Taos Mountain Campus Location, Taos, NM.

Lodging: Camping is available for registered students during the course on a first come, first serve basis. There are also options near the campus (87571 zip code) for hotels, Air-Bnbs, tent/car camping, and RV parks.

Online Evaluation Option: For students who want to complete this training but cannot attend the on-site course, we do have an online evaluation option available upon request. During registration, please indicate if you need to utilize this option so we know to reach out to you to schedule the session.

Equipment Needed for Online Training Module:

Blood Pressure Cuff, Stethoscope, Thermometer, Rebozo or Fabric, doll, human model for demonstration, internet connection.

**The following rate includes tuition for the online module as well as the onsite training.

Regular Tuition: $310 (Processing fees apply.)

**Students who are not able to attend the 2-day skills training and assessment do have an online assessment option.

The online module must be completed before attending an online evaluation with an instructor. This option must be requested at the time of registration.
